Module summary
Dissertation of 12,000-15,000 words.
Module aims
To enable students to conduct independent research into a subject of their choice relating to human rights and international conflict.

Learning outcomes
By the end of the module the student will be able to demonstrate:
1) an ability to identify an appropriate area for research and the materials relevant for its implementation[
2) an ability to identify appropriate research methods for the retrieval of relevant materials, including both primary and secondary sources;
3) an ability to demonstrate appropriate skills in the analysis and deployment of research findings.
4) a degree of originality in argument.
5) considerable expertise is some particular aspect of the study of human rights and international conflict.
Assessment strategy
Dissertations are normally first marked by the supervisor, second marked internally, and then externally examined.
