Assessment strategy

A viva exam will assess your ability to critically analyse and interpret research that has been undertaken to discuss case notes of an injury and specific medical conditions seen in sport. The presentation will require you to present a multidisciplinary athlete study conducted during the module that you have experienced first-hand. The portfolio is designed to assess your clinical competence in delivering sports therapy treatments within a sporting scenario.
You will need to provide evidence of having completed a minimum of 200 placement hours that will need to be signed off by the placement supervisor and module leader. Some of the total of placement hours can be gained throughout the degree.
The nature of the hours consist of:
- 170 hours ‘hands on’; these can be gained from placement completed under the supervision of a graduated Sports Therapist, Physiotherapist, Chiropractor, Osteopath, Sports Medicine Doctor, Strength and Conditioning Coach, Soft Tissue Therapist and other health professionals approved by the module leader.
Minimum of 20 of the 170 ‘hands on’ hours need to be completed at the London Met Injury and Rehabilitation Clinic.
- Minimum of 10 of the 170 ‘hands on’ hours need to be on pitch side. Pitch side can include any venue where the sport is taking place (for example boxing rink).
