Module summary
In this module you will have the opportunity to undertake in-depth and independent study of a topic from your course that has most inspired you. Using the research skills you learned in level five, you will undertake a marketing or creative enterprise dissertation. The overall aim of this module is for you to execute a research project that makes a practical and theoretical important contribution to your field. Specifically, the module aims:
1. To teach you how to execute a research project
2. To teach you how to write up a research project.
3. To provide you with a project to be used as an example of your abilities in the job market.
4. To reflect on the skills demonstrated through producing the research and on your broader graduate career development.

Pre-requisite: Research Methods for Marketing and Creative Enterprises.

Syllabus
1. The Introduction Chapter [LO1, LO2]
2. The Literature Review Chapter [LO1, LO2]
3. The Methods Chapter [LO3]
4. The Results and Findings Chapter [LO4]
5. The Discussion Chapter including Self-Reflection [LO5, LO6]
Balance of independent study and scheduled teaching activity
There will be 15 hours of class time (3 hours x 5 weeks), which will be made up of 10 hours of interactive lectures (2 hours x 5 weeks) and 5 hours of seminars based upon course-specific research articles (1 hour x 5 weeks). The remaining 285 hours shall be independent study to undertake coursework and further reading.
Learning outcomes
On completion of this module, students will be able to:
1. Define and frame an important research project for marketing or the creative enterprises.
2. Synthesise the important research undertaken on a marketing or creative enterprise topic to inform a research question.
3. Design and execute a rigorous methodology to answer an important research question.
4. Clearly present the results and findings from their research.
5. Discuss the results and findings from their research through the lens of theory and previous research.
6. Discuss practical implications and limitations of the research, propose future research and self-reflect on your professional development.
Students will be required to demonstrate they have met learning objectives 1-3 by the end of the first term of their dissertation studies by submitting draft(s) of their first three chapters (introduction, literature review, methods) as a formative assessment.
Students will be required to demonstrate they have met learning objectives 1-6 by the end of the second term of their dissertation studies by submitting their complete dissertation as a summative assessment.
