Module summary
In this module you will have the opportunity to undertake in-depth and independent study of a topic from your course that has most inspired you. Using the research skills you learned in level five, you will undertake a marketing or creative enterprise dissertation. The model aims to allow students to:
-Decide on a suitable research area
-Propose a feasible study investigating their field of interest
-Present their plan and defend it accordingly
-Conduct extensive literature research into their chosen topic
-Develop a suitable proposal including a literature review and methodology

Pre-requisite: Research Methods for Marketing and Creative Enterprises.

Syllabus
1. Review of the philosophy and appropriate approaches to research. [LO1 &2]
2. The Literature Review Chapter [LO1, LO2]
3. Project planning and report writing - The Methods Chapter [LO3]
Balance of independent study and scheduled teaching activity
There will be 15 hours of class time (3 hours x 5 weeks), which will be made up of 10 hours of interactive lectures (2 hours x 5 weeks) and 5 hours of seminars based upon course-specific research articles (1 hour x 5 weeks). The remaining 285 hours shall be independent study to undertake coursework and further reading.
Learning outcomes
On completion of this module, students will be able to:
1. Undertake an extensive literature survey into a specific area of marketing and creative enterprise topic to identifying strength and weaknesses of previous work using digital tools.
2. Design and execute a rigorous methodology to answer an important research question.
3. Apply appropriate methodologies and techniques to investigate complex problems and identify appropriate sources of assistance.
Students will be required to demonstrate they have met learning objectives 1-3 by the end of the first term of their dissertation studies by submitting draft(s) of their first three chapters (introduction, literature review, methods).
