This module gives you the opportunity to learn about how theory and research from different branches of psychology can be used to help us understand and interpret human experience and behaviour in a wide variety of everyday contexts.

The module will facilitate your progression to level 4 of the BSc Psychology course and enhance your knowledge and transferable skills that can apply to everyday life and various professional contexts.

Syllabus

Areas covered will be drawn from: the psychology of design, beauty, and fashion; consumer behaviour; creativity; altruistic behaviour and philanthropy; anti-social behaviour and criminality; physical and mental health; the application of psychology in various professions; and ethics in everyday life.

Balance of independent study and scheduled teaching activity

The learning objectives will be achieved through a combination of lectures and interactive workshops and seminars, supplementary guided web-based learning and self-managed independent study. You will be encouraged to reflect on your learning throughout the module, particularly using formative assessments.
