The learning opportunities for this module include a variety of techniques to engage students with the multidisciplinary nature of Sports Therapy. Scheduled L&T activities include formal lectures, case study seminars, workshops, group activities and role-play activities. This will be interspersed with guest speakers in niche areas of Sports Therapy to develop students understanding of the context of their profession. There will be a number of opportunities for peer interaction and reflective learning through the holistic approach and use of real-life case study analysis. All of these methods will be supported through materials on WebLearn.
Learning outcomes
1. Critically evaluate contemporary and evolving techniques in sports therapy
2. Demonstrate advanced sports therapy skills
Assessment strategy
The critical review (2000 words) will involve students selecting an emerging technique/practise in sports therapy (to be agreed between the module leader and student) to discuss.
The 30 minute practical demonstration will require students to demonstrate a selection of advanced sports therapy skills with supporting justification for their use in the form of a viva.
